Stefano Allesina

Stefano Allesina is a theoretical ecologist working at the Department of Ecology & Evolution at the University of Chicago. He is also a Fellow of the Computation Institute. He is interested in networks, especially food webs, and in the behavior of large dynamical systems. He likes to collaborate on projects that take methods from the "hard" sciences and use them to investigate the "science of science". He is very passionate about graduate education, especially in thinking how the curriculum of biology PhD can be transformed to take advantage of new computational methods.    Before joining the University of Chicago, he was at the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (Santa Barbara, CA) and at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI). He received a PhD in Ecology from the University of Parma (Italy).
